I met Rich Binell, Head Writer in Apple's legendary Creative Services group while I was working there as a graphic designer.

 

One day the decision was made to dissolve the team, but I was given a handwritten slip of paper that said, "Show up Monday morning at this address." That turned out to be CKS Partners in Campbell, founded by sales and creative heavy hitters from Apple's earliest days. There I continued designing for Apple's brand, while also filling my portfolio with projects from high-profile brands like BofA, United, Logitech, Macromedia, and Taligent.

Years later, after CKS went public and then was acquired, Rich asked me to design his website. I was honored that he'd asked me to write the content as well, saying, "I trust that if you like it, it'll be great. 

​

Between Rich's gift for storytelling, and his devotion to catch and release trout fishing, a compelling concept came to me: that attracting a trout with a fly is a lot like attracting an audience to a product, cause, or service. Designing this site was a joy, and it said that it shows..
